TJM Experience

Submitted: Monday, Aug 13, 2001 at 00:00

Darryl

I would like to like to share my recent "TJM" experience with fellow readers. Four weeks ago I ordered a new vehicle from a 4WD specialist Toyota dealer who also recommends & sells TJM accessories. I ordered a TJM bullbar with their antique silver finish & paid the additional $200 for this colour. One week ago I received a phone call from the dealer stating that I could wait 3
months for this colour bullbar or pay another $150 for TJM to recoat a standard black bullbar.
I was and still am very unimpressed with TJM as I had considered that the initial $200 was for colour coding. I have sent a letter of complaint to TJM but have not received a reply to date. Is this the sort of service I can expect of TJM and has anyone else experienced this? Darryl

Recently had a minor prob with a repair kit from ARB. Contacted them by email and the response was fantastic, 4 return phone calls to make sure it was sorted out and some parts delivered within 2 days. Have never tried TJM but with the service from ARB there is no need too.

I find that TJM are a whole lot more expensive than the rest. As for there service, let's say, i dont plan on going back in a hurry.

Hi Darryl, I would'nt knock TDM just for this little matter, after all,you did state it is a unique color..i.e.low productions I imagine...The thing us who really test these goods out on "the track"look for is the quality & performance. My experience indicates the TJM product & company are something us Aussies can be proud of.(My TJM bar saved my Tridon crash)
Good gear is worth the wait..Rgs Brian

as a part time accesory fitter, mainly of TJM gear I would not be putting blame on them, rather I would suggest that your dealer has stuffed up the original order to them. TJM produce a quality product equal to ARB and many others, so go and confront your dealer and make them pay for their mistake

Darryl,

I have bought a few accessories from my local TJM outlet in Geebung, Brisbane (dual battery kit, compressor etc) and I have had nothing but good service and quality products. They *are* a little more expensive, but I have always believed that you get what you pay for.

Did you order the Bar from TJM or did you order a TJM Bar from your Toyota dealer (who recommends and sells) if it is the latter tell the TJM guy to talk to Toyota as you have no business with TJM. Your business is with Toyota. If your money was accepted as full payment for the Bar in the first place tell them to jump. If they (Toyota say you have to pay just hint that they may have broken their agreement with you and that in doing so they may have breeched their contract with you.

I went to TJM with my 75 series and purchased 4 new shocks. I got home 250 km away and took off the old ones and went to fit the new ones and they were totally different and could not fit at all. I phoned TJM and told them and I was told that I would need to take the goods back and they would be replaced. Bit hard for me under the circumstances so I told the bloke to send me a pair by courier.... No was the reply.

I sent a fax to the store manager and a fax to the National sales manager as well as the Managing director and a TJM phonecall arrived the next day and one of their employees drove to me to exchange the goods. The end result was ok but it was a battle.
