electric steps for easy entry to 4wd?

Submitted: Tuesday, Aug 01, 2006 at 14:13

Does anyone know of a distributor or manufacturer of eletric steps, usually for easy entry into a caravan or winnebago type camper for people with disabitilies?
Have a family member whose wife is finding it difficult to climb into their Nissan Patrol and would dearly love to purchase a set of steps to modify or have purpose built. If any one can help it would be appreciated.
Thanks

Sharyn

And there is also a range of manual steps if the budget does not extend to the electric ones Site Link

All the best

I've also seen a small folding step attached to the Rear Bumper of a Discovery - it may be a LandRover part (and very expensive ???)

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your input. After checking out Phil's site link (above) I did indeed see that they can be expensive, but what price do you put on mobility and seeing our great country?

Regards, Sharyn.

I made a set of double steps to make life easier for my dog (she has arthritis and is getting on) so she can get into the back of my L/C. They work very well and double up when I want to erect my caravan annex. The are made out of wood and braced very well. They cost about $15.00 for materials and a bit of ingenuity

Hello Ray,

Thanks for your advice. The family member I mentioned has tried a variety of DIY, but as he and his wife are getting on in life he tends to forget to pick the step up and drive off without it, hence the request for something motorised that will open and close with the door.

Regards, Sharyn.

Okka Trucks have a pneumatic (sp?) step that folds down when the door is opened and folds up when the door closes.

Just thought I'd throw that one in!
