David from David and Justine Olsen's 4WD Tag-Along

Finally back home after a most enjoyable time in the outback

Tour 1 was 26 days then spent two days in Birdsville before heading up the Hay and into western QLD for 10 days. A couple of weeks at home will be welcome but we had an absolute ball. I sure would like to be out there in a week or so, the wildflowers will be in full bloom. As it was we saw plenty.

Hello, glad everything went according to plan. It did? Thought you might like to know that just after you left got a phone call to say that Sully ran over himself and was in hospital with couple broken ribs, plenty of bitumen/gravel rash and dinted pride. He's ok and the story is funny (no, really it is) - he was chasing a woman (he's 83.5). Luckily the car ran into a telegraph pole and stopped. Ha ha.

Now that is funny...and just like Sully I reckon.

Everything went really well, thanks Ruth. We had one drama on the second last day that I'll share with you at a later date, but the participants we had were simply the best crew ever. Hay river was a breeze. The Simpson crossing went well too as you already know. I can't believe how easy the desert was compared to the reports that were coming out earlier. The rain sure made a difference, though the cut up dunes were ridiculous. I asked a few people who were cutting things up a bit what pressures they were running. Every reply was >28psi.

Hmmmm, why am I not surprised. What really annoys are the people on either ends of the Desert bragging about how they got over the Desert without letting their tyres down at all - needless to say, that and the lack of Desert Etiquette.
Three groups have gone 'up' the Hay this week and there are two coming 'down' - one of one group is being towed in due to not having a clutch anymore.
I'll tell you about Sully at a later date also. Ha ha ha - still laughing.
