i was wandering if anyone could advise me on a cheap yet functional handheld gps unit.iwill only need it for huntig so it needs to take some rough and tumble,also i want it to have a clear and easy to read backtrack mode.also any good hand held 2way radios cheap and functional but strong and reliable.thank you dc.

dc, some of new Garmin might suit you, only familiar with garmin 12XL.

For cheap UHF h/helds, you can choose from 3 Unidens, from about $80 - $150. Also new E/phone cheap one at about $130 or so. Unidens are good on batteries, we had a set of alkalines in one for almost 12 months, with intermitent use. E/phones should be better quality. We only use the exxy E/phones, but they are 5W. Hooroo...
