dc, some of new Garmin might suit you, only familiar with garmin 12XL.
For cheap UHF h/helds, you can choose from 3 Unidens, from about $80 - $150. Also new E/phone cheap one at about $130 or so. Unidens are good on batteries, we had a set of alkalines in one for almost 12 months, with intermitent use. E/phones should be better quality. We only use the exxy E/phones, but they are 5W.
