Try Mount Franklin Crater near Daylesford. Big Desert Wilderness Park, Wyperfield National and Murray Sunset National Park all offer remote camping in the west of Victoria. Heaps of campsites along the Murray River ofcourse. Cheers,W

The Murray river has stacks of free camp sites with reasonably easy access and a lot of these are not to far from towns so that supplies and any extra entertainment that may be needed is not to far away...we are heading of mid May for a few weeks starting from Barham forest and just moving along west ward when and if we want a change in the scenery or the fish are not co-operating ...cheers

If your talking ANY sort of long weekend, the Otways is the place to be..

Everyone else heads to the High Country in their billions... tractors as far as the eye can see!!

Plenty to see down the otways, Glow worm tunnels, waterfalls, the lot.

But if it gets wet, its all clay, and can get slippery.. :(

The tracks on the Murray can get very slippery if it rains also.
