I have a late 2001/2002 GU Patrol & have not heard about this problem before.

Our GU is 1998 though so I can't really comment on whether the problem has been fixed in the later models. Perhaps a Nissan service centre could advise you.

An easy way to check is using the speed function in most good GPS units.

Jason, NSW and ACT have similar requirement but limit is 15 mm. However, Nissan have a replacement tyre placard available from spare parts which caters for the 265/75 size, costs $17.40 from my local dealer in Canberra. They have been available since 1998 I'm told by Nissan Technical as Nissan recognised the limited options available in 265/70 replacement tyres. Also, the cab-chassis comes standard with 265/75 tyres so there is no technical reason not to increase wagon tyre size to that. Nissan part number is 99090VB000A and it keeps RTA and, most importantly, your insurer happy. Picking mine up today. I'll get about 35,000 KM from standard Bridgestone Dueller AT 693 and can't wait to replace them.

I have so far 98000kms on my BFGs all terrains 265/75 16... and they haven't had such an easy life, often used on rocky and chopped up country, (Cape York and Vic High country) being some of the places they have been to....
They are still in the car and they are not yet on the tread wear indicator mark....
They have been rotated every 10000kms and balanced once.

Not a single puncture.

I guess that is what Kevin is looking forward to....

The tyres have now done 29,500 and judging by the wear, and comments from Bridgestone's technical people about how they not necessarily the best tyre for a Patrol, I think I'll be lucky to get 35,000 out of them. Tyres have been regularly rotated and balanced and most use has been on the blacktop commuting. Bridgestone recommend that I go to 265/75 604V Dueller with 13 mm tread Vs the 9mm on the OE tyre - they also suggested 35,000 - 40,000 would be pretty good out of the OE tyres.

According to the law, I can go up 51mm in diameter and 102mm in width from OE tires.
