Hi Folks,

Looking for some advice re which tinny to buy for my trip. Not a roof top model but on a trailer and something solid and stable enough not to scare the sh--t out of the wife!
Cheers

Hi Johhny

We have a 3.9m Stessl edged V. Has a sharp bow to cut through the waves and a faily flat bottom with 2 big v channels down either side a the rear which makes the boat so very stable. We regularly drag it with us to fraser island and kangaroo island. We also used it heaps down in melbourne. We have a 30hp tohatsu on the back and we can manage about 40 knots.

cheers

Adam

I had a Stessl Edgetracker 3.7m with a 15hp which was goof for tight spots being light enough to drag around on the trailer. Took it up to Weipa where it was OK for estuary work but not big enough for more open waters. I think Stessl are one of the better brands around. Now have 475 Quintrex Hornet with 60hp - its just what I need - great quality finish, big enough for just about anything and tows on a heavy duty off road trailer really well. The handbrake loves it - very stable, with a great ride. I don't think you can go wrong with any size Quintrex - just a matter of picking the right size and shape for your needs.
Good luck!!
