Years ago I told my children to totally ignore Fathers Day. It's a commercial beat up (don't think it even has a proper origin like Mothers Day, does it?) designed to pressure kids into spending their pocket money.

Bah humbug! :)

I'm with you Mike, Fathers day is just a beat up commercial ploy.
But it was still a good excuse for me to tell SWMBO that I needed the dual battery for the beer fridge. ha ha ha ha ha

Happy Fathers day to all,
Kev

Our kids like it 'cause they get to make stuff at kinder/school... As for spending money, never going to happen... We forgo the commercialism of fathers day, mothers day, valentines day and the rest of the crap... Today is a bummer though, out the door for work at 5am and wont be home 'til about 7:30pm, kids will be in bed when I get home but then I've got a 5 day break coming up to spend with them...

Yes Happy fathers day guy's, and happy Grandfathers day too, fresh in our house with recent grandaughter addition.
We are off to the Hummock's ( local range of hill's ) with the York Peninsula 4 WD club for, camp fire/bbq/picnic up on top, in the scrub.
Down side is I will have to listen to Roachie complaining about the dam Nissan all arvo, but at least he will be able to get up there as there will be several toyota's there to help him ! hahahahahhaaha

Cheers Pesty

PS Humbug: Get a life, it doesnt have to be commercial, just having some family and freinds around is all that its about !

Blue,
Yeah, good one to you and all the other dads. Commercialised or not, it is good to see the lads come around and bring the odd box of chockies or scratchies.
Cheers,

Yep, happy Fathers Day to all dads. They become more important with age. My son dropped a new referdex off last night, he's flying out to a mine today. My daughter is on a plane back from the UK, so she might be late with a prezzie :)

Sure, it's a load of commercial wank but I happened to snare the latest (2007?) edition of Explore Australia so I'm not complaining. My old 1988 version was a bit overdue for an update.
