The one statistic I have been interested in is, which member has the most page hits since 3/10/2006. I notice yours is running around 170 at the moment steve so you have been spied on a bit.

25 non members just waiting to join

My advice to them is to do as I did and play around to see if you like what this site offers if you are a traveler then it will offer you a priceless resource that if we did not have members it may not exist.

So I would like to invite non members to join it is a good investment from memory $50.00 and you will get plenty out of your membership and be part of the club.

Welcome

This is a magnificent forum.

I am happy to be a contributor here.

But I can't understand the need to pay to have the access to facilities that are free on numerous other forums. EG member messaging, posting of photo's, personal profile etc.

I don't understand the costs associated with running a website....however I do host the Terracan Forum for an outlay of the middle of a doughnut.

I'm not having a go at D&M here, they run a fine business and probably have their reasons for charging membership fees. I just don't have the knowledge of how it operates, hence I would never pass judgement.

I agree Jimbo, it's a great site, but so are the others I go to which cost nothing and have far fewer, if no adverts all over the page.

While I agree with Jimbo and Pat, I basicaly thought $50.00 is way less than a mag subscription, I trust the info here more than ''censored to please advertisers'' info you get from most publications, so I thought what the heck. For most its cheaper to go to the foty or play golf etc as a non member, but thats not why I become a member, just seemed like something I'd like to be a part of.

The only problem with visitors is the lack of the rig profile etc, I sometimes check them out more than the post itself!

All are wecome IMO

Cheers Andrew

Hmm Im not biting here, but I am curious as to your perceptions, as I know how much data flows in an out of the site - but how would you finance a major project like this and pay for the cost of 30 million odd hits each month and the associated downloads?
(Let alone eat as well- LOL)
For those who dont browse much beyond the forum there are over 40,000 free pages of information ranging from the trader, National road conditions Fuel prices and consumption figures, mapping data, gps plots, trek notes, places index, business directory, how to articles galore etc etc

I originally became a member after concluding that this is a great site with lots of info and as it was a younger couple starting up a business, I thought that I could support the site and become a member. My choice. The renewal fee of $30 is nothing. I waste more than that on crap frequently. I don't need to read all the posts about best tyres, fridges etal and I still get new stuff to learn about regularly.
I may not contribute much sense to the posts that I respond to but heck, the $30 is the cheapest entertainment that I can get for a year anywhere.
But the best feeling I get is a sense of belonging to a group that constantly gives me reminders of past trips and the opportunity to meet some great people that otherwise I would never have had the opportunity to meet.
I know I give the likes of Roachie and Bonz of the Pink mafia nissan brigade a bit of a serve very occasionally but really they are nice people and so are the rest of them that I have met. It has been a pleasure to know them all and I look forward to meeting more people through this site.
It's not the years of your life that matters, it's the life in your years that count.
