Tomtom off road fixes

G'day all,

I'm still experimenting with TOMTOM 6,

I find when I take a fix which is not on a mapped road, I cannot then re-navigate to that point, as its not on a designated road.

My question is, can this be done, is there some setting I dont have enabled that I should have?

Or can you add your own road to your camp site say?

When I say add your own road, I know this will be possible if you are a whiz map programmer etc, I'm wondering if theres an easy laymans way to do it.

Thanks

Ron

TomTom 6 is designed as a point to point road based system that is not intended for off road use.

So when you add a point that is not on a road and attempt to navigate to it TomTom will take you to the nearest spot that is on a road.

The maps are in a proprietary format and are sourced from Sensis and you cannot modify them in any way.

This is why many people with PDA/Laptops use OziExplorer azs you can make your own routes, the maps are much more detailed and can be altered.

Sorry, no can do, Tomtom uses only proprietary maps as noted above.
Oziexplorer uses many sorts of map images, suggest you go to their site

www.oziexplorer.com
and join this forum

www.gpsaustralia.net

for lots of detailed assistance. (including maps that can be used in Oziexplorer).
