Large tyres and Kaymar Bar

GQ_TUFF

Hi all,
I will be getting some new tyres in a couple of weeks, was thinking 285/75 BFG'S anyway thats not the point, I have a kaymar rear bar and the current spare tyre mounted on the door clears the bar by about 15 mm, Its a 265/75. So the real question is what are my options regarding mounting the new tyre? well there is the wheel mount option for the bar, I was hoping there maybe a other option that is cheaper (not talking about throwing it in the back or on the roof rack!!! LOL) any ideas?? If not who wants to exchange their standard bar plus cash for my Kaymar ;)!! LOL

Cheers Stefan

G'Day GQ_TUFF. By my calculations the increase in radius you will have is 15mm which will put your new tyre just on the bar. That is discounting actual maker variations and tread style .Also is your spare in new condition or is it worn down a few mill which will have an effect on the clearance you say you have.

Gerday GQ, the bro-in law has a 4.8 GU with an OL rear bar with twin wheel carriers on it.
He managed to fit 315 Cooper STTs on by using spacers behind the rims.
Hasn't tried to mount both spares yet!
Lotsa luck!

Do yaself a favour and lash-out for the swing arm off the Kaymar bar. It'll probably save you money in the long run anyway, cos the bigger tyre is gunna add extra weight to back door and eventually the door hinges or panel work will die.
