Bloody upset as all hell, Just phoned the missus and an old indigenous guy had just been round on behalf of the drivers we had an accident with saying they wanted to sort something out because the driver was concerned her family might get involved (Winmars if thats telling you anything). She shut the door on him and called the cops who informed her the driver was well known to the cops and has no license and any trouble they will be straight round but he didnt think there was anything to worry about
HOW BLOODY USELESS DO YOU THINK I FEEL HAVING MY GIRLFREIND AND DAUGHTER THREATENED WHEN I AM SO FAR AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately this is the exact reason why I had to leave my last FIFO job, I was on the other side of the country with a sex-offender stalking my wife, it ended up being a drive from Wiluna to Adelaide in 30hrs straight. It is also why I now have a silent phone number and post office box, with only close family knowing where I live and my home phone number. My suggestion would be that you talk to your boss, then jump in the car and go and sort it out, your family is a lot more important than any job.

Hope everything works out okay

Snowy

Davoe,

Anybody following your advice will be breaking the law, and at risk of losing their licence.

This may be true but at the moment unless you work on remote sites a long way from home or have been in this situation I don't think you can fully appreciate the mental anguish that Davoe is currently going through, so please try and be a little more understanding.
Personally I would much rather break the law in that case than run the risk of having my family threatened or attacked, as the law can not do a thing to help you until it's too late and they have been attacked.

Cheers

Agree with ferris.....WA law requires that you (all parties) MUST give at a minimum:

- your name and address
- (if possible) the name and address of the owner of the vehicle you were driving
- registration number
- licence details

If the estimated value of damage is over $1000, or parties injured, you must also report the accident to Police......refer to Site Link for a simple explanation of the law.

just as a follow-up to my comments (after seeing Snowy's response), i feel for Davoe in his situation and been involved in a similar situation, so i can somewhat understand where he is coming from.....

Ferris's comments were fair and should not be seen to be negative towards his situation, rather just reinforcing the law as it stands.

I wouldn't personally give out my information in this situation UNLESS that information is reciprocated...ie all their details are available immediately. If not, i would (and have done this in the past) report the accident to the Police immediately as it usually involves something dodgey happening. That way the Police will note all parties details and respect the privacy issues if the other party is shady.

I think there are overriding factors - same as leaving the scene of an accident if you fear for your safety
personally I wouldnt give a damn about breaking the law- i just wish I had been thinking clearer at the time
