Volkan,
I grew up in Lansdowne.....well the argument about
weather I ever grew up at all is aside but, depending on where you want to go etc etc. Mostly beach driving around Halidays and Forster but if you want to head inland a little from Taree out through Wingham and up towards Dingo Tops.... excellent
4WDriving. There are some excellent tracks into the Cells River area, look for Blue Mountain Creek Road, with lots of creek crossings, hills, washouts and much more, with some excellent views of the Manning Valley and plenty of picnic areas. I would consider these a good day trip from Halidays or better still a camp over. Very mountainous areas. You could possibly head into the
Barrington Tops area, even more
4WDriving but this would be stretching the friendship as a day trip I think, Just depends on your circumstances and how far you are willing to travel in a day, for me a 12 hour day and several hundred K's is nothing cos I just love driving, but not all are in this boat:-)
Let me know if you would like to know more detail.

Good ole Nat Parks, put an electified barwire fence around it and don't let anyone near it, typical.
Stephen M,
the Kia would be fine on the majority of these roads as they are generally Sate Forrestry Roads and in reasonable condition. As I mentioned there are some really good 4wd tracks in these areas but generally speaking no probs for the Kia. Any of the local Forrestry Maps will give a detailed view of Barrington, Wallingatt, Dingo Tops, Elands and Elenborough Falls etc etc. These areas are riddled with lofgging tracks and picnic areas toooooooo many to mention but, go looking for some the the above spots and you will have a ball:-)
Cheers

Agree with TT, 98% of these roads will be OK. Most of them - with the exception of extreme foresty tracks - are traversable in family sedans if you take it easy.
Kia won't have a problem.
Gronk, yeah I forgot that, however you go down the ferry road from Buladelah.

Nup,
slept with my hand on it.....oops my mind on it over night, you'll have to excuse me my wife has been in hospital for about 5 weeks now.
The more I htink about it...no I don't think so. The Lansdowne road has always been a flood route for when the Pacific Hwy gets cut off at Coopernook, and I think the Pacific Hwy has always been at Coopernook.
I may stand to be corrected though........ Never been wrong, thought I was once but I wasn't!!!
