4WD 'bashing' again..

Unfortunately a traffic copper was killed on Sat night on the F3 near Somersby NSW.
This is very regretful, with the copper apparently in the line of traffic with a hand held radar gun.
But we hear it was a 4WD that hit him- but not much mention the the 4by had been hit up the back by another vehicle, pushing it toward the cop.
Why is it the anti 4WD lobby are so powerful?? They tend to get the 4WD issue to the fore at all opportunities, no matter how irrelevant the issue may be.
If it had have been a Blue Falcon. or green Holden or whatever- would that have been hi-lighted. I think not.
But if a 4WD is involved in anything- thats what makes good fodder for the press.
Is the AN4WD association doing anything to avert this stuff??

OK that's my gripe for today!!

I doubt there's much they can do to combat this.
Newspapers know what sells papers and as they say "Don't let the truth stand in the way of a good story".
That's a bit defeatist I know but as long as we do our bit by driving with consideration of others (although tempted at times to give them a nudge!) like stting back a bit at road junctions so they can see past the front etc. we can only hope that the powers that be won't take too much notice of calls to ban us from metro roads.
Dobbing in those that deliberately damage the bush with their antics may also assist in proving we're not all environmental hooligans.
Shooters put up with a very bad image fostered by greenies and cun control loonies irrespective of the fact that the vast majority of gun crime is not by licenced shooters but by crims., with unlicenced guns and who don't obey any laws.
There should be some alliance between us two groups together with friendly pollies (is there such a thing?) in an effort to combat this damaging image.

That's exactly right. And an anti 4wd headline is probably aimed at people with 4WDs who will buy that paper to see what the story is.

The news reports said that the 4WD was hit from behind. These days the term '4WD' is generic and not intended to convey any more than the fact - it was a 4WD.

If it was a truck/motor bike/car I'm sure it would have been reported as such.

As a group all we need to do is acknowledge it as no more than what the comment intended - the fact it was a 4WD. We shouldn't jump at shadows simply because the term 4WD was used.

yes, ask you for your annual fees... not much left after keeping the air conditioners running in their offices all day, or their company cars.

Don’t know if it is the same one, but I was reading about another Cop who was killed wile operating a hand held radar gun on another forum.

They were positioned so they were not visible buy the drivers and could only be spotted when they jumped out from behind the bush with the sigh telling you to pull over.

The eye whiteness who reported it on another forum said>that the cop basically jumped out into traffic which was in a 110 zone to pull the car over giving it bugger all room to try and stop, it was one of the stupidest things he had ever seen and was outright dangerous maynover by the police.

There is also a fixed speed camera a few 100 metres up the road apparently

There was no mention of it being a 4WD thou.

That is fairly close to the money, Exploder. The 4WD was clipped by the other vehicle and the policeman was hit by the 4WD and killed. I am not sure but have heard that the 4WD driver was on a P Plate (not able to confirm this). The Local Police Inspector (Area Commander) said his mate then called emergency services, tended to his mate as best he could and also managed to take details from the drivers. To their credit, both vehicles stopped.

Still a sad thing to see anyone killed doing their job. All speed camera work up this way (NSW Central Coast) has been suspended pending a review of the safety issues related to this form of policing. Better late than never I suppose.

So sad for the family.

Because we/us are to busy getting on with our lives and minding our business to have the time to speak up, where as those morons who live off our tax and do nothing, have nothing, but say plenty seem to get a hearing on the media,Notice how Bob Brown , the pedestrian council, anti bullbar mob, always gets an interveiw,The media must go chasing them.
