can of worms :) warranty

Hi all Waeco vs Engel....... I am sure I am about stir up another can of worms.......
I was informed today after taking my waeco battery to an autherised service centre in sydney....... The dude from the repair centre told me "The RAPS 36 (battery) would not be covered by warranty" Waeco will call me???? Still waiting after a full business day.
It is just under 3 months old and has only spent 3 weeks on the back of the ute. I have 2 of them and the other is fine.
I sent a post recently about one of them not working........ Have found out waeco will not cover it under warranty because it had water in it :(
Cannot understand how when both of my waeco batteries sat on the back of the ute and only 1 has water in it??????? Both used to sit proudly under the tarp and kept reasonably dry...... if one got wet then the other did.......
Now here is the clincher My Engel that has sat on the back of the ute for 3 years (Even goes through car washes) without a problem and has only in the last 5 months had a tarp to give it a home and I can still call my bourbons, frobons.
I have seen adverts on cable with the battery and a fridge being set up out side....... HHHHMMMMMM Is this false advertising???????
I am very much looking forward to speaking to Waeco and depending on the outcome depends on my views on waeco products........ I am thinking I am now glad I bought an engel fridge. A mate of mine bought a waeco fridge at the same time I got the batteries........... I am looking forward to see if his lasts the distance.....
Has anybody else had any dealings with waeco warranty?
 I love my life :)

im still trying to sort mine out when it died after 2 days

funny how they have my money and i still have no product
people who have read a past forum knows which one it is

i hope i have it before christmas as thats what i brought it for (for the holidays)

turned out to be one of those polly fuses but i still said i wanted a new one as it only lasted 2 days

funny thing was waeco stated it was from low power which causes the fuses to blow BUT! it was running on 240 mains the whole time i was trying it out

will let every one know when it is all sorted

if you have a waeco i would get that fuse checked as they are only 5 amp fuses they replace them with 6 amp and is suppose to fix the problem

I don't have an Engel or a Waeco so have nothing to gain. My next door neighbour is an authorised repairer for both fridges here in Cairns, and he says the Engel warranty and back up support leaves the Waeco's for dead. His hire fridges are Engels.

From my experience with them (wako) there back up support is a joke. don`t know if engle`s is any better as I`ve never had a problem with my 2 engle`s.

Had one problem with mine - a snapped 12v pin on the fridge. My fault for not strapping the thing down securely on a roughish trip.

Anyway, tried to get it fixed by a service agent in western Sydney. Was able to contact him once by phone then he disappeared off the planet. Did not return multiple phone calls and nowhere to be seen at his place of business (or anyone else for that matter ????? ).

Found another agent at Silverwater. Fixed problem under warranty for no charge and has been working fine for six months.

For me, it's just as good as any other fridge and a damn sight cheaper than most.

Al

I cannot believe this shyte!!!

Contact Waeco on their service line and talk directly with them, not some fridge mechanic that can be giving you false info.

My personal experience with Waeco warranty is excellent and prompt.

Dont belive all the garbage sprouted by folk that are trying to justfy spending $$$$$ more on their Engle.

No actual interest in discussion but to keep balanced view...

Don't believe all the garbage sprouted by folk that are trying to justify not spending $$$$$ less on their Waeco.

On patrol, good on you, have to agree the miss information in this thread is 10 out of 10, I have an old engle and a 6 year old waeco and by far the 5 year waeco warranty is far superior to the engles and as far as performance goes the waeco wins hands down. Got to try both instead of knocking one.

As I have written before, we had a continuing problem with our 4 month old cf-60 waeco's preference was for continuing repair, mine was replacement of fridge.
I kept an even tone with him and kept pushing for my new fridge and eventually got it.
They are tough to crack, but the problem I can see you have is proving it. Your story sounds believable enough to me but like any warranty, insurance company or bank you will be hard pushed to prove it was they're fault.
give em hell and I hope you win it.

Unfortunately I think it has more to do with the agent or dealer than the company.....my cf80 is about 8 months onl and I noticed there was a bit of a bulge in the lid, its a bit delaminated from the insulation. wouldnt effect performance much, but mentioned it to the mob I got it from and they orded in a new one strait away, and they quoted waeco in saying it was unaceptable and must be replaced, so I think I have had great warrantyservice form waeco

Cheers Andrew

It's amazing that the Engel Waeco discussions still continue. It pretty bluddy obvious to any blind duck whose's been following this for a few years that there's a world of difference between the two products, so which is superior?....now come onnnnn
