Steve,
I put up with this problem for a couple of years while I spent a small fortune and wasted a lot of time trying to get it fixed. I did all the fancy wheel balance things one guy suggested the offset on my wheels was wrong and that I should buy some new ones like those he just happened to have in the workshop.
On a trip home from Lake
Eyre it was doing it again, so badly that I could hardly keep it
on the road. In desperation I pulled into a garage in
Nyngan. The guy there said he probably couldn't fix it, "I'm no
suspension expert." he said "but I'll have a look anyway."
It turned out to be a bush on the panhard rod. This guy suggested Pedders or the Nissan dealer in Dubbo. The Nissan dealer did not have the part, couldn't do it till late next week and it would cost about $250. Pedders had the part for $50 and would fit it for free that day.
I gave Pedders the $50 perfect.
Check the bushes, if there is any doubt replace them.
