Daylight savings would be a bit pointless on the Enterprise in deep space unless you were going where no man has gone before in search of an extra hour of daylight! LOL

Well as the Enterprise can travel faster than light I think you could get well ahead of the light and as it catches up to you you could by traveling at the same speed as the light you could have perpetual light....

I will just treat your statement with the utmost contempt it deserves.
Truth is I'm not a West Australian, Queenslander ,or New South Welshman but was born in South Australia and have lived in those other states and as an Australian citizen I have the right to live where I choose,
And fortunately for us all you don't own WA

Really what you are asking in regard to shift workers working at the time of the change:

Will the boss still pay you the same this week with the start of DS, and you work one hour less?
AND,
When DS finishes, and you work one hour more, you do it for nothing?

AND,

if you change jobs meanwhile, or do not have a job when DS finishes, what happens?

Trekkie, most awards, remember them, covers this situation, those working when it comes in, work 11 and get paid for 12, if 12 hour shifts, when going back, the shift worker gets paid for the extra hour worked. Of course, on AWA's and probably most awards in WA, it wouldn't be covered, so a bun fight will probably ensue!!!!!!

On our AWA's, we get paid the full 12 (.5) hours, and will be either paid for 13.5 or work the 12.5 and have n hour off...sort of. When Ansett bit the dust, we were geting 14 days pay for a worked 10.5, and if you had to work more due to the plane availability you got paid accordingly. I for 1 at least, am about 20k (gross) better off with a workplace agreement than with the award.

I am a shift worker and yes (depending on the type of shifts you work 8 or 12 hour) you will cop a 9 hour or 13 hour shift when going back to normal time, and a 7 or 11 hour shift when going over to daylight saving time.

Funny how i only remember copping the longer shifts over the years and not the short ones.

well the bahh humbuggas were proved wrong We had kids outdoors playing till 8.00pm up and down the street, while we enjoyed a barbie. There were no flies and the oppresive heat was actually a perfect 28 degrees. No one in the house had problems sleeping and there was plenty of light when we got up at 5.30 refreshed and ready to enjy this new era of new thinking (STILL cant get a carton from the local bottlo tho - maybe next century)

You must be asking the wrong people. I've come across about 50/50, but I'm sure it will be more like 80/20 against, when the referendum is due. I've been awake since 2:15am WDST so the late sunrise surely didn't affect me today.

Something that made me cringe in yesterdays "Sunday Times" was a stockbroker who said as the ASX was "over east" he had to start work at 7:00am everyday in Perth and it was a great intrusion into his family life poor little thing. I've been starting at 7:00am or earlier my whole working life (over 20 years) and it hasn't affected my family life one little bit. As I said in an ealier post on the subject, it's all driven by the Chamber of Commerce. Anyway, can't wait to vote "No" in three years as I have done two times already.

I think you will be disappointed in 3 years time...but then again we may all be dead by then.
