Suzuki Vitara 1991 rim changing?

Would anyone know what sort of rims can i put on a 1991 Suzuki Vitara. As in what rims from other vehicle types will go on no worries. i currently have 15inch rims on there and would like to go to 16inch or maybe 17 inch rims. if i put 17's on there will it affect the overall performance and everdyday driving?

15's plenty of range of tyres
16's very good range of tyres, but more suited to heavier weight vehicles generally.
17's lucky to find anything suitable in overall diameter for 4WDing (ie all 32" and above, very hard to fit to Vitaras. Plenty for ricer type tyres, but may have issues with width/profile and fouling guards/chassis etc.

The rim size will not affect the performance, but the overall diameter of the tyres will. A 31" tyre in 15 inch rims is the same as a 31" in 16 inch and 17 inch rims.

IIRC the biggest you can go without lifting and guard trimming is 225/75x15 which corresponds to a 29" overall diameter.

From the Speedy and ROH charts:
Your Vitara has a PCD of 5x139.7
Kia Sorento 16x7 (and possibly other Kia) have the same PCD.
Diahatsu Feroza, Rocky, Ford F150 are also possibilities.

I don't know about the offsets

F150 4X4 will fit in a 15x7, but may need it's offset adjusted. F100/150 2WD center hole not big enough.

There should be a 16x6 rim made for a late '90's Grand Vitara that should fit.

17's i think you would be pushing a bit....

GV's and XL-7's have 16x 7 with a 5P offset. The V6 & 4 cyl 2.0 Vit had a 16x6.5 with a 25P offset. 17's are only on the latest GV and there is some suggestion that the PCD may have changed so that and the centre bore would need to be checked.

Your best bet would be to find some of the 16x6.5 rims. What do you call a large tyre? Stock is 27". What do you want, 30", 32" 34" etc? What are you trying to acheive? What sort of suspension and/or bodylift do you have? Are you willing to do any hammering or grinding to fit the larger tyre?
