Any reason for going to the bigger rims, versus simply bigger
tyres?
15's plenty of range of
tyres
16's very good range of
tyres, but more suited to heavier weight vehicles generally.
17's lucky to find anything suitable in overall diameter for 4WDing (ie all 32" and above, very hard to fit to Vitaras. Plenty for ricer type
tyres, but may have issues with width/profile and fouling guards/chassis etc.
The rim size will not affect the performance, but the overall diameter of the
tyres will. A 31" tyre in 15 inch rims is the same as a 31" in 16 inch and 17 inch rims.
IIRC the biggest you can go without lifting and guard trimming is 225/75x15 which corresponds to a 29" overall diameter.
Try over here for Vitara 4WD questions (not really a "ricer" type
forum though).
