Caravan Table intrudes into the walking area.

We have a Coromal Caravan, and are very happy with it. The table seems to be a bit intrusive on the passage space, and we wondered if anyone has any ideas to overcome this problem. Thanks.

There is an offset bracket you can get that allows you to rotate the table on an ecentric that moves it in and out.

Check out Camec I think they have them.

Mr Fawlty replied:

A cuppla questions....Is the table to big? Could a smaller one do the Job? Could the table have the offending piece NEATLY cut off and hinged as per a standard leaf table? Could the table be unscrewed from the support and repositioned by screwing back on in an "adjusted" position? I would reccomend that unless you can do any of this work & give yourself a "professional" finish that you get someone to do it for you, bodgy reworking of bits & pieces in caravans does tend to reduce considerably the resale value.
The "DINE EASY" as suggested in the above post has to be bought direct from the manufacturer, he advertises in the caravanning mags and makes a very nice device. I have one in the gin palace.

Don't cut your table top. Make a new one from chip board - this way you can keep cutting it down until it is the correct size. When you have the top size you want then either make a neat one to those dimensions or get a cabinet maker to do it for you. The original top can then be replaced when you sell the van.

Keenycruiser replied:

The other variation to this problem is instead of the straight table support, you can get a bent support. This enables you to swivel the table towards the seat or away from the seat without having to turn the table. I found that this is far better when sitting at the table and someone wants to get out, you swivel it away instead of turning the table and crushing someone else the other end.

Our Corvair 511 has the same - hinged on one edge. Simple and works well....Keith

I don't know what your table or layout is like, but with our Bushtracker, we made more space by removing the the oblong table from it's leg, and making a smaller oval table which is adequate for the two of us. We have kept the original table should we need it in the future or should we want to sell our van.

Table in my old 1991 Evernew PopTop has an off centre mounting point under it. Rotate table to be closer to you when sat down, less intrusion in to pasage space, or away from you when sat down, more lap space but intrudes into passage way.
