Steve,
It was a good gravel road 3 years ago. Can't imagine its changed.
Also I read recently somewhere, that Mt Ive Station has had some improvements - might be a place to stay.
Cheers

We came through from Glendambo to Wirrulla in April and the road was very corrugated most of the way. At Glendambo locals we were talking to told us that the road from Glendambo to Kingoonya was recently graded, but became badly corrugated within days due to mining company trucks in the area. It didn't improve all the way until around the turnoff to the road to Iron Knob. In January the previous year we went from Iron Knob through and into the Gawler Ranges and that road was good. I suppose it depends on the traffic and when the roads are graded. Nice drives, and you won't see much traffic that time of the year.

Its a pretty good road with the northern section with plenty of stones and corrugations. Just beware of any rain as this will quickly change the conditions.
We did the run up this way last easter. Fuel is available at Mt Ive.

HI STEVE

WIFE AND I TRAVELLED WITH OUR OFF ROAD CARAVAN IN AUGUST,TRAVELLING FROM MINNIPA THROUGH THE GAWLER RANGES TO MT.IVE STATION,STAYED THERE FOR FOUR DAYS.SOME GOD TRACKS TO EXPLORE,AND NICE HOT SHOWEWRS WE THEN TRAVELLED THROUGH THE LAKES TO KINGOONYA,SOME INTERESTING HISTORICAL SITES ON ROUTE.
ROAD CONDITIONS WERE PRETTY GOOD,A FEW CORRIGATIONS BUT NOTHING TO GET CONCERNED ABOUT.

KINGOONYA IS COMPLETLY DESERTED NOW,BUT THERE IS STILL SOME FLUSH TOILETS ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE ROAD HEADING TOWARDS TARCOOLA.
WE CAMPED THERE FOR THE NIGHT BEFORE CARRY ON TO COOBER PEDY.
