Individual rear seats in Defender

Nicky

Has anyone fitted individual rear seats to a Defender, or other vehicle for thaat matter? My children have threatened to do serious harm to my person if I do not do something about the back seat. I was thinking of fitting two stratos, aerotech or Recaro seats in the back.

AThe October 2001 edition of Australian 4WD Monthly features an 80 series landcruiser that has the original bucket seats moved to the back and recaro's fitted to the front. It doesn't have much detail on how it was done, but it shows that it can be approved (it's a NSW vehicle).

I have found that you can do just about anything with Toyotas, but Land Rovers tend to create much consternation! People sort of look at them and ask: "Why the hell would anyone pay good money for this?" To which one must reply: "It's a Land Rover thing. I don't expect you to understand".

The australian army has fitted recaro style seats to landrovers for a long time. They had a special base plate produced to allow the seat to still hing away from the under seat boxes. ARB in Richmond Melbourne told me they could source the front seat base plates. I would say that the company that made these base plates, could make something for the rear too.
