Gas Stoves with built in Griller

Hi,

I've noticed in a couple of camping stores, a particular model of Gas Stove that has a griller underneath.

Just wondering if anyone has tried this type of stove and if they find the griller ok.

The main use I am interested in it is for toasting bread at the same time using the burners for cooking.

I use one in my camper trailer. Great for toasting 2 at a time. Grills meat, fish, etc. Great unit, but I couldn't tell you the brand cause it came supplied with the camper. (Track desert eagle camper)

phil, we have one on our trailer 2 burner with grille.
The name of our unit is Lido Jounior , came supplied with our cavalier trailer.Fits 2 slices bread , bacon etc no problem

Phil, we have a Gas Mate 2 burner stove with griller. After using the "old fashioned" toaster devices, my wife insisted on the griller, mainly for toasting. It dosn't perform any better than the old way as the heat does not spread very far across the "heat dispersing grid". Given the extra cost, I would not recommend them if toasting is the main purpose.Be good, or be quick. Rohan

Tried various toasters on gas stoves, finally found the Dixon toaster at a boating shop. Stainless steel with a stainless steel mantle, makes 2 slices of perfect toast in less than half the time of an electric toaster. On cold mornings we even use it to heat the campervan. Only drawback was the price aprox. $35.00 but it still is one of the best purchases we have made considering the use we get out of it.

Perhaps mantle is not an accurate discription. The very fine stainless steel mesh acts like a mantle as in the old gas lights, except that this one is rigid and glows red when heated, to do the toasting.

The problem is always that you can't try these things in the shop. I bought a fairly cheap version from Aussie disposals. Can't really toast with it..... so can't grill or anything. Cheers RoyceRoyce www.funshow.com.au
