Can I mix 2 different set/brand of mud tyre

Submitted: Wednesday, Apr 02, 2003 at 13:13

Peter

Currently runnning on 4 BFG M/T (32x11.5R15). However, 2 of them at the back are badly worn (with tread depth about 2mm only). But both 2 at the front are still good (with tread depth about 8mm).

Is it alright to just get 2 new Goodyear M/T for the back as long as they are same size as BFG one ?

Does it affect the handling on off-road situation ?

there is no problem in running 2 new & 2 old as long as you keep the old & new on the front or rear dont mix old & new on the same axil it is always prefrable to maintain the same brand & tread pattern that way you don t need to carry 2 spares if you do only buy 2 new tyres put the new ones on the front & the second hand on the rear the reason you dont mix new & old is the differance in diamiter between worn tyre & new tyre this puts strain on the running gear same with running diferant tread paterns
Hope this answers your question

this is because you are far better off (read safer at high speed) blowing a rear trye than a front.
