clunk at rear when releasing brake

Hi everybody, I own a guiii 4.8 with tiptronic 5 speed. The last few years, the vehicle has developed a clunk in the rear when i release the brakes to take off.
I have taken it to nissan & suspension places, but at the time it didn't play up. It almost feels like the rear end is winding up. Ive had new suspension fitted, but this has made no difference. Has anyone else had this problem. If so could you give me an idea on what it might be.
Regards Alex.

It sounds like a bit of movement in the Panhard Rod bushes, or at worst play in the uni joints.

Hey tony
All the uni joints & diff gears have been checked out ok. Even the upper & lower trailing arms have been checked. Any other suggestions.

There is some natural play in the rear diff assembly.
Hi Alex

You can normally grab the tailshaft and rotate it a few degrees
before it takes up onto the wheels. This gets slowly worse
over time. Unijoints or diff blacklash mostly likely.

With brake operation car generally rests slightly backwards
which puts sloop at one end, then auto drag takes this up
at take off.
Reducing auto drag with better fuild - or lower set idle revs
is likely to reduce.

Don't really notice it in mine begin 4800 manual as clutch control
is available.

G'day Alex,

I also have a noise but it is more like the car sitting back down which I also experience in the auto commodore I have. Certainly doesn't sound unnatural to me. Mine's only done 65,000K so maybe I'll get this happening after some more K's.

Kind regards

Had this problem and it was the trailing arm bolts not up to specified torque. Check them with the specified torque in the manual
