These lights are mentioned in post 36097. Anyone have good, bad or indifferent experiences to offer?
Had a poke around and it appears that there's another lot of lights with the same designation, and they're definately not a Lightforce contender ?
Or is it just easier to buy the LF 170's ?

Not a bad light, although I have had one fade, and the other the rivets that hold the body to the bracket have shaken loose. * months old, and bugger if I can find the receipt to take them back.

Otherwise, throw a good light, and sturdy enough

Mike, that doesn't exactly inspire confidence. If things break, they usually go when you need them.

Sorry, cant remember anywhere in my reply about trying to inspire confidence :)

Originally my thinking was that the metal body spotlights would have to endure more, had too many plastic body lights break, especially on corugated roads, kangaroos, pedestrians etc etc. Didnt have the money for the IPF lights, and these seemed to be my next best option.

To tell you the truth, best pair of spotties I ever bought was a pair of nane lights, full metal body in a powdercoat finish. Indistructable and only a fraction of the price of the others. Wish I didnt give them away when I got the nitestalkers. Such is life eh?

Hi,
I bought a set of Night Stalker Roo lights late last year. They are polycarbonate like the Lighforces, in fact many accuse them of being a copy, but they are 10mm larger in diameter and I think the fittings are slightly different.

The difference is the Night Stalkers are $230 including the heavy duty loom kit. The kit includes all the bits and pieces such as switches and fuses, nothing else to buy.

The best price I could get the Lightforce 170's for was $320, plus you needed to buy their wiring kit at $45. Total $365.

As much I like to support Aussie companies, the price of the Lightforce 170's ruled them out.

With regard to how the Night Stalker Roo Lights perform, they certainly light up the distant signs etc. They do what I want, and I guess that is all that matters.

A real test would be to put them side to side with a set of Lightforces and see how they compare, but I have not done that.

Just as a side note, the Night Stalker Roo Lights come with a clear lens cover, but unlike the Lightforces you cannot buy any additional "lenses" to make them into broad or pencil beams. You however can focus them by turning the body on the globe holder and you can get pencil or broad beam that way.

Between the good lights, there probably is not that much difference in performance, and it will come down to personal preference. A bit like the Nissan / Toyota debates.

Cheers,
Mal

Just to clarify. Very specifically, I understand that your question relates to the Night Stalker Roo lights, they are all polycarbonate. There is no metal except the mounting bolts.

So an earlier post talking about breaking rivets etc, must refer to the other models of Night Stalker lights, that are the more traditional design and use a metal case etc.

Cheers,
Mal

Ahhh yes. The problem surfaces. There are 2 sorts of Night Stalker 180 lights ? The normal run of the mill and the 170 "copies" ?
So where do I go to buy the 170 "copies" ? Anywhere on the net that sells them ?

Why don't you try a set of Narva's. I have them & when using them in the scrub the hand held Lightforce SL 240 Spotlight doesn't drown them out in regard to intensity & distance. The only difference is that the 240's use a Xenon Globe instead of Halogen. I have never blown a Xenon globe but unfortuneately they do not fit the normal run of the mill lights as they have prongs. A bit off the track,I know, but you won't be disappointed with Narva & I have nothing to do with the company. I hit a Roo doing a 100k's with the bullbar (ARB) & demolished the R/Hand spotlight & the shock made the guts of the L/Hand one fall out & it was hanging by the wires swinging around. It managed to damage itself, & when I told Narva about what had happened, they sent me out a complete new light. Can't complain about that !
