wheel rims /tyres

I have an 80 series landcruiser 1997 standard model ,barn doors.
when i purchased this vehicle it was fitted with Prado wheels
16 inch/7 inch ,recently I have had fitted Cooper Discoverer AT
LT265/75R16 tyres, and the question was raised as to whether
the prado rims are legal on the 80 series .because of the offset of
the rims they tend to narrow the track of the vehicle .
The original tyres on this vehicle were 750/R16 6PRLT -RIM 16X5.50F
SDC Split rims
I live in nsw but am about to do a trip that will take me through 5 states of aust can anyone advise me if Im legal or how I can find out and
where before I tear all of my hear out.

Geoff-2, I have the same landcruiser and have 7 x 16 rims but not prado rims with BFG ATs 235x85. For about $100 each wheel why would you want to compromise you insurance etc using the wrong offset rims (let alone the handling). But apart from that I took out the bench seat(?) and fitted a Commodore bucket seat from a VS. Very comfortable for the navvy and gives you heaps of room for a console between the seats. I also fitted a GME UHF in the dash under in the lower half of the double DIN radio slot.

I have Uniden 090 fitted in dash also,I have a problem with my back,
and it does not like the bench seat and driving long distances so i am
keen to know more about bucket seat.

Geoff-2, I have Sunraysier 7x16 white rims, nothing fancy. The seats I bought for $250 the pair in 1998. I only fitted the passenger side as I found the bucket drivers seat quite good and sold the drivers Holden seat for $150. I had to weld an adaptor bracket to use the Toyota tracks but that wasnt hard once I worked out the design. The resultant seat height is about 40 mm higher than stanard but my wife is short and now can see over the dash. If you are in Sydney you are welcome to have a look.
