Horseshoe Bend on the Goulburn River near Seymour - what's it like?

We're planning a bit of a BBQ at 'Horseshoe Bend on the Goulburn River near Seymour' but we've, apparently!, never been there :) Anyone know what it's like for a midday BBQ?

Not exactly sure , where you mean Mike. If thats the one a few streets south of harding street , then well we didn't stop but looked ok but very dry . (january)

Moved on then mapping out river access points toward Yea where there more bush type settings, like Horsey.

Hope I'm not leading you astray here Mike. A very nice picnic bbq area is right next to the Goulburn river and maybe your 'Horseshoe Bend'.
Access to it is turning off the old Hume Hwy (now the Seymour - Tooborac Rd)
at I think is Manners Street. Follow this to the end and you'll find the picnic area.

If you have a Vic Roads Directory, the reference is 292 C8. The directory does not name the area but would suit your purposes.

We (our car club) has used this spot on several occasions and is quite pretty and is an ideal lunch stop spot.

As I said it is off the old hume and is just before the pub.

Hope this helps a little. Sorry I couldn't be more specific.

Wayne.

Mike have just looked at the spot I think Robin was referring too and is probably more likely Horseshoe bend from the map I'm looking at.

Access off Progress st. Seymour. Vic Roads ref: 292D10.

Check them both out only about 1-2ks between them.

Cheers. Wayne

Hi Mike,
We have stayed at the CVP on the south side of town along the river. Dunno what the locations name was, but it was on the Goulbourn river. For us, it was just a quick over nighter from the Vic. port of Fairies back home to CBR. But it was very enjoyable, it a great bit of river. Next to the CVP is a public park , it is a pleasent enough place to stay. The public park had a natural ampitheater and an reasonable kiddies play ground along with a enough green grass to find a spot on you own. If this is the spot, it would not hurt to pack you camping table and chairs, then you can go where you want to.
