2007 Patrol Update

Submitted: Friday, Mar 02, 2007 at 12:33

Outbacktourer

I just got an eNewsletter from Nissan.

Patrol gets Cruise Control across the board and common rail on the 3L. Power quoted at a modest increase of 118Kw, no mention of torque. Focus of the wording is on NVH and driveability improvements to the engine. Stock in dealers April.

No changes in the power etc but they say that the down low issues have been sorted, below 1800rpm.....Time will only tell.....

2007 PATROL
The legend evolves...

The latest range of Nissan Patrols now offers cruise control as standard on all models. Plus, if you choose a 2007 Patrol with an all new 3.0 litre turbo diesel, you'll also enjoy the latest generation of common rail technology. This new common rail fuel delivery system offers a number of benefits. It significantly reduces noise and vibration to offer you a quieter, more pleasant driving experience. You'll also find the engine is more responsive across the entire rev range because of its more accessible power and torque characteristics.

Whichever engine you choose, be it the new 118kW 3.0 litre common rail turbo diesel or the powerful 180kW 4.8 litre petrol, you'll find Patrol has all the power you need to meet the toughest demands.

This new common rail fuel delivery system offers a number of benefits. It significantly reduces noise and vibration when number one piston melts to offer you a quieter, more pleasant towing experience. You'll also find the engine is more prone to blowing up across the entire rev range because of its more electronic powered crap we have added.

Whichever engine you choose, be it the new 118kW 3.0 litre common to blow up turbo diesel or the powerful 180kW 4.8 litre petrol guzler, you'll find Patrol has all the power you need to meet the toughest demands.

You would think that if the ZD30 was such a pile of effluent as you seem to think it is that you would also have commented on the fact that Nissan now no longer offer the TD42 but you didn't. How quaint! The Nissan Corporation must have just a tiny bit of faith in the ZD30 to offer it as their ONLY diesel option in the Patrol as they have a fair bit a stake in doing that. No doubt there have been some earlier engines blow up prematurely due to wrong dipsticks, misaligned piston crown cooling sprays in the little end of the conrods, etc but the basic engine has been in production for 7 years now. How many of those that have blown up had after-market electronic chips fitted to vary the ECM settings beyond what the manufacturer intended, how many had the wrong grade of oil in them, how many had been overloaded, oveheated, run low on oil through negligence?? No I don't represent Nissan in any way, but you have to have a balanced view mate, embrace technology or you will be left behind, weigh up the benefits against the costs, it's time to move on. I'll bet you don't still have a black and white TV or cook you toast over the wood stove with a wire fork but then again with a handle like Now I'm Number One maybe you just might.

Seeing as the problem with the 3.0 was fixed back in 2003, or was it as far back as 2002?, it seems that some people just want to hold a grudge. Thankfully Nissan have not added an independent front suspension, that would really stuff up a 4WD....

the hard part will be finding a car salesman with balls to work in a NIssan dealer.. who would want to be trying to sell that piece of bleep against the cruiser!

Whats the bet that the plan is to have the patrol disappear off the list all together? Perfect way to do it - sales drop to 0...

iTs a joke!! The Toyota engineers and sales executives in Japan must be rolling on the floor laughing right now!!! 2.5 tonne pushed around by a piddly 4 cylinder with no other reliable option. I was waiting for the all new model, i thought it would be this one but it seems it will be around the same time as the Cruiser in 2008. If they dont have a new 6 cylinder donk in the 2008 model, i will be slipping into a Cruiser. If Toyota had a solid front axle as an option with their new Twin turbo V8 diesel, Nissan can turn the lights off on the patrol assembly line. Nissan have really lost their way, I guess you only have to look at a new Renault to see the way they think!!! Michael
