Sydney Yeo Chasm / Connie Sue Hwy

Has anyone been out there? Good write-up in the West Great Victoria Desert Trek Notes.

We are planning to go there in Jul/Aug. Any warnings or suggestions etc?

Also planning to spend time at Waterfall Gorge.

Any other POIs off the Connie Sue between Neale Jn and Warburton that we shouldn't miss?

Thanks.

Have heard of Sydney Yeo Chasm but we were on another mission at that time and didn't get there.

Waterfall Gorge is only accessible from the top. There was a small pool of water at the start of the falls in 2005. You would have to camp at the top of the gorge on hard stoney ground with no shade but your own.

Neale Breakaways are good to have a drive in an a look. It lies south of Neale Junction. There is some rubbish left behind by roadmakers Not sure who?

I have looked in trek notes here on EO but have not found any reference to it yet.

Go to my website below and under 4x4 you can read an article The BIg Trip 2005 where I describe some of the Neale Breakaways.

Thanks Willem.

Your Big Trip 2005 is most interesting - and really well written. We have changed our plans to include a night at Neale Breakaways. Google Earth shows a biggish tree providing plenty of shade on the road in, and that might be a good spot to stop.

I also can't find much else in addition to the EO Trek Notes about Syd Yeo, but Stewy has convinced me to spend two nights there.

Graham.

Point Sandercock (do some research on this place first)
Ryans Bluff & Hanns Tabletop
Mt Irving (near Sydney Yeo Chasm)
Waterfall Gorge (walk about 5-600m to the N for The Arch)
Mackenzie Gorge (awesome vista to the W)
Beadell Ridge (stop for a cuppa and take it all in)
If you're travelling North- I suggest you camp about 40k S of Warburton. The into Warburton for showers & refuel- then move on.
My opinion only- ' Bad vibes in Warburton" .
Have a gtreat trip- if I can be of further help, let me know.

Spent two nights camped at Sydney Yeo Chasm Sep 06. Track in it rough and washed out in places, but well worth the trip in. Spent a full day exploring the area and having a roast dinner. www.orvc.asn.au/ under News+Reports "The Bomb Roads " is the trip report for the group

Thanks Stewy.

Your "Bomb Roads" is a great report and very helpful.

We've changed our plans, and now intend also to spend 2 nights at Syd Yeo.
