LPG gas rebate

What a hassle claiming this rebate was, first I cued up at centre link to get a form to fill out and the girl looked at me blankly and said she thinks you have to download it and bring it back to her to lodge, she went to find out more info but returned 10min later to say yes you have to download it good bye. Went to Medicare and they had the forms and told me about all the supporting documents I had to have for them to photo copy and submit with the form inc. rego papers that I did not have on me and it was fri 4.30pm. Monday and I returned with all I needed and the girl checked everything and said it has to be right otherwise they will return it, so that was the start of the 2 week wait for the refund to be banked into my account. Two and a half weeks after checking my account every day a letter came in the mail saying please send more info. including invoice stamped PAID IN FULL ABN no. gas cert. no. Apparently they could not read the photo copy's of the documents they had, so I resent them and highlighted everything and again waited the two week turn around. After checking the account again after two and a bit weeks there was the money (hooray) an other week and a half the supporting letter came telling me to check my account as the money had been approved.

Of course you could save yourself the hassle and not claim the rebate. Geez, they couldn't read one of the pieces of supporting documentation and asked for it to be resent then gave you $2000

Can't wait to hear all the whinging next year when you have to start paying more for your gas!

LPG Excise

Q. Will the price of LPG increase in the future?

A. LPG is currently excise free but it will become subject to excise in the future. No excise will be applied to LPG until 1 July 2011. The full rate of excise to apply to Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) used in vehicles will be 12.5 cents per litre. This rate will apply from 1 July 2015. So a human at the other end made a mistake. If this is the biggest problem in your life good luck to you and enjoy spending the money! There are plenty out there who already had LPG systems fitted that would be more than happy to put up with a mistake and get $2000 back. (No I'm not one of them)

First of all this rebate is for my wifes car, my nissan has had it for ten years paid the full price but the saving in running cost pushed me to do my wifes car now that it is cheaper. Had to borrow the extra $2000 to pay the gas installer on credit card so every dollar counts in our house and every day longer to get it back costs us money. If I can draw peoples attention to the fact that the form and attached documents have to be very very clear to save waiting a month for your own money back I will, done with good intentions I might add. Even with knockers like you whyallacookie it won't upset my day.

Just re-read your original post in case I missed something..... Nope, no simple explanation of the process or what to to.... just complaining about the process.

As long as it didn't go over 30 days it didn't cost you a cent more on your credit card. (Or did you not get 30 days int free like most)

But lets say you didn't and the $2000 is being charged at the CBA rate for an example (first one I thought of and not usually the cheapest or dearest) 18.9%

(Apologies if the maths is wrong)
$2000 x 18.9% = $378
$378 diveded by 365 days = $1.03 per day (Most banks charge it daily)

or $30ish dollars over a month. I'm sure you are already saving more than that a month in fuel. Doesn't excuse the process not being simple and hey if you want to post back with the procedure and what you need to have, I'm sure those going to claim it will appreciate your effort.

I'm not knocking you for giving help to those who are yet to go through the process, just for complaining that it took 4 weeks for a rebate for something that has no doubt saved you money on a daily basis

whyallacookie, whyallacookie, you have a bad attatude, my process started wasting time at centrelink when all I wanted was a form to fill in after picking up the car and then return with the documents,( please note downloading the form is easier and quicker) to top it off it took over 4 weeks to get my money back (Please note be extra clear with forms and documents). By the way my installer only accepts cash so you saying "If this is the biggest problem in your life good luck to you and enjoy spending the money!" You do not know the problems in my life and that is knocking. You sound as though you work for a gov. dept.
Enjoy the rest of your day

Hmmmm perhaps if you got your story straight first it would help. Notice you keep changing as you go?

Good bye I'm off to do some four wheel driving, enjoy your new lower fuel bills and as you have now paid back the $2000 I'm sure you can start on the next problem in your life!
