You can't do McLeods, private property and locked gates both ends. Barnetts Rd or Boundary Rd, Broken Cart onto Long Plain Rd is the way to go. The bull dozer went through the area a little while back so it is now pretty easy driving.

Hi Eric, you could try this route along which I towed a Jayco Swan. Yass to Wee Jasper and camp at Billy Grace Reserve beside the Goodradigbee. Then south along Nottingham Rd past Micalong Ck camping areas, up the hill after this and along an easy 2WD until you hit the Brindabella Rd ie Canberra to Tumut . Then it's right into Barnett, then Bramina, right into Boundary, left into Broken Cart trail which joins onto the Long Plain Rd at the bottom of Peppercorn Hill. We then drove to Cooleman caves to camp. Cheers, Warrie

The boundary road route is a very easy trip, including the section of broken cart before coolamine homestead. The full broken cart option is a good 4wd trip that is easily complete with a little bit of experience and care - its a good drive. Email me at sheahanpaul at hotmail.com if i can give you further info on the trip.
If things get wet, these routes quickly go up in degree of difficulty.

Ahhh God's country down there... I used to ride motorcycles in a previous life and would spend every June long weekend camping with a couple of thousand other two-wheelers at what was/is called the Alpine Rally (for the uninitiated, a motorcycle "rally" is purely a social camping event held over a weekend, nothing to do with a car or motor rally). The campsite was on the Goodradigbee River, along the road that is now closed from Brindabella that eventually becomes the Long Plain Rd. Great riding/driving country, esp in winter when there was usually heaps of snow about. Geez it was cold, though (-9C one year I remember) - thank God for Stones Green Ginger!

Any other rallygoers out there?

Thanks for the info. Were booked into Curango for a few days.Ive done the Bennetts Rd / Brocken Cart Trail entry to Long Plain. Looking for alternative entries. Advice on this route ore any other would be appreciated.
