You either bought a 80 series or a Landy. They are two distinctively different beasts.

Call it what you want.

An 80 series is a Toyota. (Commonly refered to as 80's, 80 series, cruisers etc)

A landy is a Landrover. (Commonly refered to as buckets of snot etc)

Hi there

I recently bought a new aluminium rack from Southern Spirit 4x4, who are based in Perth. They sent the rack to me in Melbourne. So far so good. Seems like an excellent piece of eqipment. Went onto my Troopy without any problems, and I haven't noticed it up there while driving on the highway. It's light and very quiet, yet sturdy. Quite a few people have already commented on the workmanship. You may want to check out their website.

I've been looking at these for my Prado 120. What size did you get, vehicle fit to and price Paul? Did you get any of the extras for jerries, jack etc?

Hi AJ

I got 2.2m fully enclosed rack with mesh floor for a 78 Troopy. I was advised to keep weight off the A-pillar on the troopy which explains the 2.2m length. I think it was the right decision. It cost $1490 delivered to my door in Melb., and while a bit pricier perhaps than others, I reckon the quality justifies the extra cost. I want to do a big trip next year and will probably purchase some of the accessories down the track.

thanks Paul,

I was looking for the reduced weight of aluminium over a steel rack and didn't like the structural look of some of the other aluminium ones. Also trying to keep the roof carry load total weight down since the Prados are only rated to 100kgs on top.

Cheers

Another vote for Jarram 12-16 Railway Pde Welshpool. 9451 0700.
Have had an ally rack for 10+ years on the Troopy without any problems at all. Covered many dusty corrugated miles and not a worry.
Not anything other than a happy customer.
