Which model Pirelli are you looking at? We have had the Scorpion ATR on Prado for about 10,000km. Excellent bitumen handling, very quiet. Has been fine on all 4WD tracks too, except once on very greasy yellow clay that would have tested all but the most aggressive M/Ts. Too early to say about the longevity.
Note that comments above about Pirellis might relate to the old A/Ts rather than the current ATRs, which have only been on the market for less than 2 years. The A/Ts won the Australian 4WD Monthly A/T
tyres test in 2006. Pirelli claims that the ATRs offer the same off-road performance as the A/Ts, but much better performance on-road.
Whichever tyre you choose,
shop around for best price - the difference is surprising. Don't forget to ask for all-in price: e.g. some retailers charge for disposal of old
tyres.
