Roof Racks which way?

Slammer

Hi guys,

Just bought a Prado 2004. Looking at roof racks but really only to carry fishing gear. Would like to get one that I can put some sort of fishing rod holder to. However do not want to ruin the car look but putting a chunky one on. I have seen a couple on the prado going length ways of the car rather than acroos that look okay. What are they? Any ideas? I only want the sporty looking ones.

look at thule, rola, rhino to name a few. Some of these come with attatchments for bits and pieces and have aerodynamic profiles that may look sporty. normally the ones running down the car are for attatching cross bars to, forming a roof bars. hope this helps. cheers molzy

Probably not much help for you however I put my rods in a COI tent pole bag which then goes into a length of PVC pipe attached to a roof basket mounted on 3 commercial Rhino bars.
