You can remove it when not needed and it charges via a 80A fully automatic isolator while you drive.

Hi TentEnKaMan, the best set-up is always one that charges the battery off the alternator BUT the best charge you are ever likely to get is about 30 amps not 80 amps but it’s still going to charge quicker than off you battery charger plus it’s not going to take 9 hours to recharge the battery off your 10 amp battery charger, it’s more likely to be 12 to 15 hours and your alternator, depending on a number of factors, will most likely need 6 to 8 hours to fully charge the battery.

There’s a lot more to it but these are the basics.

cheers derek and drivesafe. Yerh had a look at a coiuple of auto parts retailers yesterday, that link looks like better bang for the bucks lol. May have to purchase the battery and store in the tent and run it off a charger/gennie during the day to start with and upgrade to DBS later once I've had the chance to save the necessary $$$ at the moment we just dont have a fridge at night, coz we dont want to inflict the racket on anyone else. Ive found a budget 100aH AGM battery, so maybe this and an inverter for the 240v only fridge i stupidly let my gf talk me into coz it was cheaper.... hmmm not cheaper when im going to have to upgrade anyhows. Ive got annual leave loading coming so thinking i may just get a cheapie caravan with three way frifge and look at doing something more permanent power orientated. Mind you aint much room left in the car these days so may have to put the whole project on hold for the mo $$$ orientated lol. Ahhhh well we will get there :D cheers again fellas. Was debating whether to upgrade my el cheapo gennie as well. But after reading that a kipor 2000kva only puts out 8.3A DC yesterday, may just build a gennie box for that aka some of the other threads around.. If its going to have to run that much might as well stick with the lil begga its a miser on petrol lol. What was foggy is now much clearer thanks again fellows

I fitted a Surepower diode isolater and a second battery to an L series Subaru about 15 years ago, it is all still functioning correctly, batteries have been changed in the meantime ;-))

Yep done it heaps of times.
Using the Chargemaster Serious Battery Box from Opposite Lock.
They work very well and can easily charge a sealed battery along side the lead acid original. 1800 62 44 44 for connection to your local Ol store.
