Hi all, I'm curious about the "Cheap Chinese Gennys" from a thread a while ago. So how are they going and are they still available? Anyone got a current price on them, or a site etc?

Can't remember the brand name but saw one of those at a "Magnetmart" hardware store in Canberra on special for around $350.00 about 2 months ago. Thought about buying one, it but they look large, from memory the weight was prohibitive and they are probably very noisy. Not suitable for my needs.

Horses for courses though.

gday wayne if you check out post 3458 you should find all you need to know.took ours away at easter for a week and couldnt fault it.friend of ours came down from qld for a week and he was looking at bying a honda.seen ours and was impresed.sold my one to him and picked my new one up on monday.they still $350.there is a couple of gennys from china about.probly from the same place but some are 650 watt where as theese ones are 950watt.im guessing we used ours for 30-40 hrs while we were away but mrs says heaps longer and we used 12ltrs of fuel. hope this is of some help

We ran two fridges , three flouros and a laptop. no prob The others at camp were quite upset they outlayed heap more $$$. 3lts of fuel had us running for over 10hrs weighs about 18kg although Post 3458 will prob fill you in on the stat`s . Just one thing we found upon delivery we also found the unit would not run but found the fuel line kinked once fixed (2min Job) the bloody thing ran like a dream.

gday craig.im glad the gennie was great .ours to at easter.funny you mentioned other people upset about the price they paid for theres i forgot that when we were away the kids cameback saying the campsite behind us had the same gennie.when we had a few and wandered over to have a chat we found out they had the original yamaha one $1000 they said.geez were they not happy.the other good thing about theese gennies is even though spares are available if you do get stuck the yamaha ones will also fit.we had friends come down for holls over easter and bought my one off me and i bought another one on monday.

If you find one take a multi-meter along and see what its output is, I think you'd be surprised at what they put out, a client of mine had one and it was running at 350v, did quite a bit of damage to some of his gear.

My old man was thinking of buying one of these, or actually he was trying to get me to buy one, so he could borrow it off me! We have a couple of local tool shops that have them. My old man asked to see one going and it apparently idled really badly, like coughing and spurting. He went to another tool shop and asked to see one running and they couldn't get theirs started. He didn't end up buying one. I suppose ask the store to fire it up for you.... and stick a multimeter on it if you want to, and see what happens!
