Air filters

Not a lot on air filters in the archives on this subject, would like to hear peoples opinions on after market air filters. Am trying to decide either a K&N or a Donaldson to put in the MU before heading to Darwin. The best price for a K&N so far is $170, have not yet priced the Donaldson, any opinions appreciated.

K&N or Donaldson both good. mite see you up north going to gulf end june to

I think you will find the Donaldson will serve you well.

Been around diesel engines most of my life, particularly in high HP, they are standard fit, and often are copied.

Provided you follow their instructions to the letter, they can also be washed.

Not seeing a snorkel on your car, you mean a Donaldson Air box etc.. NOT CHEAP.

I use genuine NIssan filters at $19ea, they work the best, I also have K&N etc replacements for the ORM main filter, and the precleaner, but never been impressed with them.

Donaldsons on the top of snorkels work well, and are cheapish at $130ish

i have a unifilter on the navra diesel and no problems as yet quite happy and the oil is cheap and you need bugger all easy to clean.
used re-usable filters for years on my dirt bikes-mostly 2 stroke and they worked a treat actually more air on most (add holes to air box ) and saved a hell of a lot of money (on filters any way spent the saving s on tyres chains gears and god knows what else).
should have got a 4by sooner hey.
but as i said so far so good.
im looking at the fuel filter alternatives as we speak.
Nissan have enough of my hard earned already.

hate to be a party pooper but rta/police in port macquarie nsw have been defecting vehicles with aftermarket air cleaners for non compliance with adr's. apparently you are supposed to have an engineers certificate to state compliance with pollution adr's at the time of vehicle manufacture.as with all aftermarket products its up to you to check the legallities of what you fit to vehicles.

Personally, I have a K&N in my 5ltr Commodore (only milk and juice comes in 2ltr) and in my 2.6ltr 4WD Rodeo.

The one in the Commodore is 7 years old, looks like new, I reckon it added at least 10Kw (that's using the seat of the pants dyno methol lol, even my wife could feel the difference when she drove the car) The one in the Rodeo is new (just picked up the vehicle) and it has meant that at 80 km/h I can hold 5th gear up some hills around here that I used to HAVE to drop back to 4th to get up. That is proof enough for me.
