Please Explain

Member - Paul

About 2 Months ago we were complianing about ULP being $1.10.....Deisel being about $1.05.

Why is is today I am now seeing ULP $0.79 cents but the Deisel is still up around $0.99.

Dollar is the best its been in years against the US$, and oil is around $26.00 a barrel

Can someone explain why when both ULP and Deisel are produced from Oil why the huge price swings.

My understanding is deisel is easier to produce?

Is it a simple case of supply and demand? Paul

Someone has to subsidise the ULP discounting!

Amazing how Disesl takes LOTS less to produce than Petrol, its called PROFITEERING...

Ask the toothless tiger with that old useless fart incharge called the ACCC ...

Good to see the TWU (totally Worthless union) live up to its name, and has done nothing to help its members, which I would hazzard a guess would be 99.9999999999% Diesels?

Same with LPG, CAUSE THEY CAN.. Who will stop them?

Most diesel is imported so price is set to o/seas demand for heating oil , Also trucks used to have a road tax to pay on milage travelled but Gov decided to put extra tax on fuel & cancel road tax as it was to hard to police. So we pay more Wish i was still here / Gulf in July

you hit the nail right on the head BJ, the oil from Oz oil wells his very light crude, in fact we export lots of the light end of the crude, you acutally have to work pritty hard to make diesel from our lighter crude oil they talk about "cracking" the hard end to distillate the heavy oils.

the heavy crude oil market is pretty edgy as in many countries they burn mostly heavy oil to run power stations not coal.

without the road tax it would still be reasonably cheap though. the rorting that when on with road tax could be fixed with a little technolagy, fit every heavy truck, bus & trailer with sealed measuring equipment & make it 10 years jail for tampering with it. electronic display can show distance travelled & tax due constantly, every time the thing gets inspected you cough up the road tax.

pity it will never happen, the blanket approach is cheaper to administer & raises farto much money for the govermnet
