Vrilya Point & Barrow Piont on Cape York

Submitted: Tuesday, May 06, 2003 at 06:31

Tony James

My latest map of Cape York has the road to Vrilya Piont marked as "Permit Only". Does anyone know if this is correct and if so who do I contact (and on what number) to gain a permit?

Also Barrow Point on the way to Bathurst Bay/Cape Melville had a track shown on previous maps. The latest map doesn't show this track. Is it (the track) closed off or just an oversight by the map makers?

Any help appreciated. Travelling up late June.

yes you do need a permit if the ranger is there he is just as you go onto the beach .
Last season he was in a tent.

So does this mean I don't have to arrange a permit in advance? Just get one from him if he is on site?

Do you know if the track into Barrow Point is still open?

Thanks
