duplex button

Submitted: Tuesday, May 06, 2003 at 09:17

wal

I have recently purchased a uniden 011, although I have a basic idea of the duplex mode and repeaters, I am unable to tell when it is in duplex mode, I push the button but no light shows what mode it's in. Am I doing something wrong? should a light lock on to tell me it's in duplex? any help appreciated.

Regards Wal

got to get it right for the Cape in July

Wal, I don't know the model off-hand but it should show "DUP" or similar on the display. However, it only works on channels 1 to 8 so nothing will happen on higher channels.

On channels 1 - 8 if you push the duplex button you should see the "Dup" light up, or go out, on the LED display. Obviously if it is lit up Duplex is on, if not it is off!

I too am trying to get duplex straight in my head. My understanding is that in duplex mode, your radio will receive on (say) channel 1 and transmit 30 channels higher on 31. Any repeater station in range will receive your signal on 31 and transmit on 1. The duplex function is available for channels 1-8. Some info available on
http://www.alphalink.com.au/~parkerp/cb.htm
with lists of repeater stations etc.
Wal - can't help any more than the others, your radio may have a problem. GME rules in my book.....
