search, a UK company has developed a portable diesel 12v generator for yachties - more diesel engines on yachts than 4WD's if you think about it, sounded amazing, light, economical, powerful ... if you can't find it i can have a go at finding it for you again. would have thought some would have made it to
australia by now thru a marine
chandler somewhere.

There are many small diesel alternaters available on the market. For the average person they are to expensive, to noisy, to heavy and take up too much space and are not run for sufficient length of time to make them pay. Yanmar and Kubota both make small recoil starter motors that are availble fitted with alternators. There has been a large range of diesel alternating sets for the marine sector for a substantial amount of time.
