Ours is dodgy to, you hear the motor trying to move it yeh but nothing happening. Disconnected it from the motor so didn't have to hear it and just leave it up, Been like that for the last year or so, the stupid thing is I know what is wrong with it and $15.00 down at Repco will fix it but its been over a year and I still haven't done it.. Yeppp... there's always next year....

Hi Mike , Mate mine went crook on my 100 ser and I bought one from a spares shop the guy assured me will fit it was only about $40 but as always no fit for me!! well I took it back and went down to Toyota and $110 later all is tops ( for the last 2 yrs anyway ) well the problem was the long plastic or nylon track that runs inside the antena had broken in 2 places I could not replace mine but you may have the same problem so rip it out and check that if you can , I hope this helps??

I have a fix, it might not be exactly what you wanted nut they're tough as nails, for $14.95 you can get one of those rubber aerials and not have to worry about it again. I did that on the 80 and 60 series (neither were electric) and have not had another broken aerial. Days are numbered for the one on my gu, it goes most of the way down, a car wash will take it off one day

When we have had this problem at work, we just take the said vehicle to a car wash and put it through with the aerial up.

The Car wash usually tears it clean out and mangles it the same time.

Then take the vehicle down to contract maintence group ( Dealaship of vehicle make) and they promptly remove dead item and replace with an OEM.

No problem at all.

Mike, it will almost certainly be very slightly bent.
I have fixed plenty of these in the past, if you are going to any where near the Marina on Sunday, call in & I'll have a look at it.

After I broke two aerial masts and bent the housing I replaced the whole thing with one of the short rubber bendy aerials.

Mine was doing the same, they use a dry lubricant as in graphite powder normally.
You will have to use some type of cleaner to remove the oil lubricant you have used prior. Extend the aerial fully and make sure it has dryed extremely well, now rub some graphite powder onto the shaft segments dont go over board.

give that a go and see what happens!
