Stephen, 6 years ago we did the telegraph track up and the bypass on the way back, the telegraph track was the better one, if slower. We did it in a 93 Mistsubishi L300 (the same one that has just survived
Cape Melville) and there was only one vehcile - providing you take things slowly and check the creek crossings and are careful you should be able to make it. We know of one couple who did it in a L300 1985 model in 1995 and got through with no problems. We have found as long as you go in the middle of the dry season most 4 WD have already paved the way.
