landcruiser fuel consumption query

Greg

Can anyone give me some information on fuel consumption figres (in lt/100km) for 80 series landcruisers. I'm interested in comparing petrol vehicles(4.5lt) running on gas compared to diesel (1HZ), in unloaded city driving, loaded figues on the highway (no trailer but roofrack) and offroad (on petrol not gas). Any information would be appreciated.

Greg, I have 4.5lt Troopie on gas. It returns 4.6ks per litre on gas and 5.6ks per litre on petrol. It also has Genie extractors and I run 33inch tyres which does make a difference (the oddometer had to be recalibrated).

I run a 80 series 1HZ with a full lenth roof rack and raised suspension. Unloaded around town I average (over 12 months) 13 lt/100km. Have just returned from a 5000km trip, a mixture of offroad and onroad and averaged 14.1 lt/100km. We had a full roof rack and very, very heavy load in the back.

Greg, Fuel figures relate to speeds no faster than 100km/hr when on highways. When fully loaded it is quiet a slug when passing traffic. If you had a big budget I would bolt on a turbo charger.

I have a diesel HZJ 80 series and over 93000 kms have averaged 24.51 mpg or 11.6 litres per 100 kms , with the highest being 17.9 mpg or 15.82 litres per 100 kms over the Simpson this year. I am pretty happy with this ! Mainly city driving with a few long (month) trips to Outback etc., fully loaded with all bar the kitchen sink! steve
