One for those who know. How tricky is it to remove and check the starter motor when it fails to engage. Spins but not engaging to crank. How long to do with a basic tool set. Estimate as i understand things vary. Live on gold coast and can only agree that the comments on dealers are very close to the mark.

Haven't changed a Jackeroo starter specifically but they are mostly the same. Usually connected to the bell housing by two bolts. One will probably go through an unthreaded hole and have a nut on the end and one will most likely be threaded into bell housing. Most starter motors are in confined position. Basic tool kit will be fine. An extension piece for your ratchet and an universal type joint may also come in handy. Motor spins but does not engage sounds like the throw out spring on the end of motor and between the engageing cog is broken. Cheap part . Also disconnect battery before starting job.

Many thanks for your advice. Yes it is in the most confined space and requires some removal and contortionist abilities to do. The spring was broken and the gear damaged. $780.00 later for a reco unit and had to go through 5 suppliers to find. Guess you just can not help good luck.
