On tv this morning there was a person from choice discussing warrentys on electrical goods apparently if you have something with a 12 month warrenty and it fails after 12 months say 18-24 months you are still covered for warrenty under the trade practices act......Anyone know if this also applies to vehicles....is this why some manufacturers do repairs after warrenty...might be handy to know specifics of trade practices act.

depends on what fails and why?

a car computer may not be covered by warranty but the wheel bearing could be?...depends on cause of failure.

Probably covered by the "fitness for purpose" provisions of the act.

Any item sold should be fit for the purpose for which it is intended.

It is not clear cut and can involve argument and interpretation (read lawyer's field day)

That should be helpfull for the Nissan 3 Liter owners.

Intended purpose exactly what a 4 wd is ment for down at Nissan there 4 wd are only to go to the shop and get a loaf of bread.

I think all nissan 3 liter owners should launch a Class Action and take Nissan to court the way there geting warrenty issues dealt with by the company is second to none one can only feel sorry for them.
