roof racks for roof top tent
Submitted: Monday, Oct 01, 2007 at 11:28
Twinkles
Thinking of getting roof top tent for those trips where towing not advisable. Have an 04 dual cab Hilux with canopy. It has no gutters, but has two grooves in the roof for racks. Need racks with high weight bearing capacity. How many bars would I need? I'm on the Mornington Peninsula, so would also like some advise on where to get them.
Thanks in advance.

I have a roof top on an LC100.
Total of six points of contact, therefore three bars.

Mine is a full length rack. Modified "tradesmans" with the sides cut off to suit the tent. Has an area in front of the tent for additional luggage.
I got the rack from a mob in Bris that sells roof top tents. Don't remember the exact price, but not cheap.

It will depend on the brand, I have a howling moon and it only needs two.
Have fun

Hi Twinkles
I just went to supercheap and brought the heaviest they had, but anything over 75KG should do it, I have no idea how much, sorry.
Have fun
