Waeco fridge repairs,

Geoff (Newcastle, NSW)

Hello All,
My Waeco CF110 has decided to call it a day. The lights and fan are on but nobody is home in the cooling department.
The compressor gets warm to touch but is totally silent, like as if it has siezed.
Has anyone found a repairer of said Waeco devices in Newcastle or Hunter Valley that you'd be prepared to recommend?

They have an email back facility to identify repairers in your area.

Funny website that one, if you enter Australia, NSW there are no agents, dealers or service centres for the whole state!

Means one of two things, either they never break down or nobody will touch them with a barge pole!

I can't for the life of me understand why people default to forums for all the answers they seek.

I would have rung the Waeco head office not jumped on a web forum.

When I have a plumbing problem I ring a plumber, not ask advice on what the plumbing problem might be or how or where to get a good plumber.

I'm with you. I'd rather get a recommendation from someone with similar interests than just take a "mystery" pick from the phonebook.

There's supposed to be an authorised repairer no more than 10ks from my place. Have never been able to raise him on the phone or even catch him at his supposed workplace. Got fed up and went to a place in Silverwater, a reasonable drive from here. Fixed in a couple of days at no cost whatsoever.

Now I've got a recommendation, if I don't have faith in one of the locally listed Waeco repairers I know I can go to Silverwater and get a good one.

I've used the guys at Wilson's in Silverwater. The only problem was that his technician was on hols, and they had a bit of a backlog.

Picked up a couple of spare power cords while I was there. Nothing was a hassle and the communcations was all good.
