Does anyone have any comments on Red Desert tents. I know black wolf turbo are good from reading forum, but am tossing up between red desert Traveller Extended, 12 x 9 - which is cheaper, but is it as good? Any problems with it, anyone? Thanks.

Can't comment on the Red Desert tents, but I do use the heavier duty and now discontinued version from the same manufacturer (COI Leisure / Primus) called the Tornado. Been using it for about a year and a half and have not had any problems whatsoever.

Thanks. I'll go have another look at it. I like the inside shape, it's rectangular - but thought it might be a bit heavy. It doesn't come with a fly, which some people think helpful.

Are you referring to the awning? If so, this did become an annoyance for me and I eventually had to have one custom made. Unless, of course, the Red Desert tent has the option of a ready-made awning.

Hello garbage, No, not awning. I used the wrong name - not the fly, but the sheet that goes over the top of some tents - the rain shield - can't think of its name and everything has a name. Yep! Another senior moment - they keep occuring. I think it does have an awning. It's always a bit of an overload to see lots of tents at once - especially if youdon't know what's good.

With canvas tents, you won't tend to find any that come with a fly - they're all typically one layer tents. It's only the polyester ones that come with a fly.

We have had Red Desert Ext. version for about 2.5 years. No problems. Definitely easy to pack / unpack. Sleeps our family of 5 comfortably. It is poly cotton canvas so not in the league of Southern Cross.

Ours has HD floor and is very heavy; hard to get on the roof at times. We have friends with same they bought about 18 months ago, which has far lighter floor and seems far lighter overall. I don't know if that's a problem though but check out floor quality. Newer one has another difference (good improvement) with velcro at bottom of window flap.

Best wishes JD
