I think an important consideration is to carry at least 2 different types of lighting so that if one fails there's always the other. For example I take a gas lantern that screws onto the big gas bottle; 2 fluros powered by my 120AH AGM battery, 2 headlights a hand held torch and a wind up!

I like the Coleman dual fuel lanterns......as a bonus they kill lots of insects too. We carry 1 of them and 2 fluros running on 12 volt.
1 small torch in toiletry bag.

Got sick of changing flimsy mantels on gas lights when camping so gave them up for 12v fluoros. Also like those round tri led lights from bunnings ($10) for trips to the facilities at night. Long lasting and compact. Do have the wind up also but rarely desperate enough to bother with it!
